This is a fascinating read. (thanks, Tom!) I think computer science might have something to say about this in that given n choices, the time to make the comparisons between each one and all others increases exponentially. (I think... a bit rusty on CS math). And then you add our frontal lobes and mood swings...well...let's just hire the ants.
